Born in 1966 in Beijing, Song Dong graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Capital Normal University in 1989, and is now working and living in Beijing. He distinguished himself from the early Chinese avant-garde art movement and became an important artist with international influence in the development of Chinese contemporary art, whose art forms explore the concept of the transient nature of human behavior across multiple fields, including behavior, video, installation, sculpture, photography, conceptual painting and drama. He has participated in many international art exhibitions, such as Kassel Documenta, Venice Biennial, S?o Paulo Art Biennial, Kwangju Art Biennial, and held large-scale solo exhibitions in venues like Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), Groninger Museum, Kunsthalle Dusseldorf and Rockbund Art Museum. He has won the Kwangju Art Biennial Award, the Outstanding Contribution Award by Chinese Contemporary Art Award (CCAA), AAC Annual Installation Artist, and Annual Artist of Art Power 100. His works are collected by many important museums and art institutions including Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), Metropolitan Museum of Art, Guggenheim Museum, Tate Gallery of Modern Art in Britain, Museum+ in Hong Kong and Ullens Art Foundation.
《澳门太阳诚娱城集团2007-1429.com中轴线计》 Central Axis Plan of Chongqing Yuelai
The Chinese Architecture History regards the axis of the overall planning of the ancient Chinese architectural complex as the “central axis”, and points out that “it is most emphasized by our country in the world, and the achievements in China are also the most prominent.” The Forbidden Palace is on the central axis of Beijing.
The central axis is a planning axis that governs the whole thing. It does not appear in the form of visible lines. But it embodies a pattern and awareness of the central axis. It has always symbolized power, value and center. But the ordinary people have nothing to do with this line.
I visited this new city, Yuelai, in March this year, and I am inspired by the urban planning centered on the “Exhibition Center”. A large number of exhibitions held every year around the “International Expo Center”, which is about 2 kilometers away, are constantly updated, and various talents are constantly gathering here. But unfortunately: Fixed barrack, floating soldiers.
My central axis plan is to show the concept of the central axis. On the symmetrical central axis of the International Expo Center, the central axis extends to the north and south, south to the river, and north to the top of the hill. Create a “groove center axis” of 30cm wide and 50cm high with lights inside, covered with glass. The space of the grooves stores and displays various objects collected from the public. This is a step-by-step work. Different people from all walks of life are brought together through the central axis of the people. Let us build a city with the International Expo Center.
